Bruce Rogers Roe, 96, of 787 Asbury Road, Candler, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Center.
Mr. Roe was born in Greenville, SC and was a son of the late Isaac Newton Roe and Mary Etta Rogers Roe. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Sue Roe Evans and Annie Lou McWhorter and four brothers A.B. Roe, J.T. Roe, Bob Roe and Barney Roe.
Mr. Roe was a retired sheetrock contractor. He was a Master Mason and life member for work of Hominy Lodge No. 491, A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the Buncombe County Shrine Club and of Francis Asbury United Methodist
Church.
He is survived by his wife Mary Sue Howard Roe; one son, Howard Bruce Roe and his wife Martha Virginia Mitchell; one granddaughter, Rachel M. Ward; two great-grandchildren and one brother Fred Roe.
A memorial service will be at 12:00 noon Saturday at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating. Burial in the church cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
