Charles Harold “Charlie” Ford, Jr., 73, of 120 Fordbrook Road, Asheville, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the VA Medical Center.

Born in Chicago, IL, and a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Charles Harold Ford, Sr. and Frances Uzzle Ford. He attended Asheville Biltmore College, NC State University and was a US Navy veteran of Korea. Mr. Ford was a dairy farmer and currently owned and operated Fordbrook Stables. He was a Hamm Radio operator, active in the Dairy Association and the farming community and a member of Acton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Burress Ford; two sons, Mike Ford and his wife Rhonda of Asheville and Jeff Ford and his wife Stacy of Asheville; a sister, Wynelle “Wendy” Kuykendall and her husband Jim of Candler; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 26, 2005, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Hacklander and Wes Austin officiating.

His family will be at the residence and request that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
