Betty Looney Gantt, 72, of 27 Old Spring Dr., Candler, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Roy Chester and Ila Price Looney.
Betty enjoyed baking, crafts, and spending time with and caring for her family and friends. She had retired from Square D, where she worked as a parts assembler. She was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church for 61 years.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a perfect lady, and her family will miss her with all of their heart.
Mrs. Gantt is survived by her husband, Howard Gantt; two daughters, Debbie Reese and Barbara Pearson, both of Asheville; step-children, Mark Gantt, of San Carlos, CA, Jim Gantt, of Asheville, and Debbie Morgan, of Marion; grandchildren, Beth Weaver, Laura Pearson, and Kristen Caison, all of Asheville; two step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Starnes Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Sams and Glenn Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends 7-9:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
