Hendersonville – Marilyn Matney Ownbey, 78, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012.
A native of Asheville, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy Matney and was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady G. Ownbey, who died in 1997.
Mrs. Ownbey was a member of the Biltmore Baptist Church and the Ladies Golden Rule Sunday School Class. She formerly worked for Wachovia Bank and was a former resident of Cedar Forest Trail.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Scott Ownbey and his wife, Erin, of Boynton Beach, Florida and their two children, Trinity and Jordan.
A graveside service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Thursday at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Association or to a charity of one's choice.
