Betty Ann Smith Summey, 77, of Asheville, our beloved Mother, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at St. Jospeh's Campus, Mission Hospitals.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Howard Glenn and Addie Sue Kilby Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry D. "J.D." Summey; and by a son, Daniel Summey.
Mrs. Summey was a lifelong member of Asheville Free Will Baptist Church, and was the Treasurer at the time of her death.
She is survived by daughters Rhonda Blankenship and husband, Carroll, of Senea, SC, and Sherry Stacy of Chattanooga, TN; a son, Allan Summey and wife, Sharon, of Bryson City; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a sister, Georgia Bray of Marietta, GA.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Weldon Ramsey and Donald Holder officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
