Thelma McCoy Watkins, 82, of Asheville, died on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at her home.
An Asheville native, Mrs. Watkins was the daughter of the late William S. and Mary Ethel Huggins McCoy.
Mrs. Watkins was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School. She later worked for Sears Roebuck for a number of years in Greensboro and in Asheville in their credit offices. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of Asheville Wesleyan Church.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by her husband, Mark L. Watkins; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Penland and Betty Daniels.
A funeral service for Mrs. Watkins will be on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Josh Tietje and Dorothy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
