Joseph Steven Crisp, beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009.
Steve is survived by his wife, Diana Marie; two daughters, Mary Rhiannon Crisp and Deana Crisp Gilliam; a son, Joseph Brandon Crisp and five grandchildren, Amber Lynn Gilliam, Jacob Thomas Gilliam, Alexander Gilliam, Kayla Victoria Crisp, and Joseph Benjamin Crisp. He is also survived by his parents, Joe and Frances Crisp of Burnsville and four sisters, Janet Crisp-Lacy of Greensboro, Sharon Crisp Renfro of Spruce Pine, Mary Crisp Bennett of Eden and Gail Crisp of Burnsville.
Those who knew Steve were blessed. He was of the Baptist faith and was a giving, loving and caring man who demonstrated his faith each day in the manner he treated others. He gave countless hours as a school volunteer. Although he was in declining health for years, he never complained and was always positive. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. S. Gray Little officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to a college scholarship fund established for Steve's daughter, Rhiannon. Checks should be made to Mary Rhiannon Crisp and mailed to the attention of her aunt, Janet Crisp-Lacy, PO Box 16611, Asheville, NC 28816.
